Our volunteers work with shelters to evaluate dogs in danger of being euthanized because they are not finding homes through the shelter and room needs to be made for the unending flow of incoming dogs. Our volunteers evaluate these dogs to the best of their ability to make sure that the dogs will make a great pet before we place them into our BLRR Foster Homes.
Once approved to become a Brookline dog, the dogs are examined by a veterinarian, brought up-to-date (UTD) on vaccinations, and spayed or neutered, if needed. These dogs remain in the Foster Homes for a minimum of 2 weeks, so the foster families can gain insight into the dogs' personalities and offer potential new families more information about the dogs' needs. http://www.brooklinelabrescue.org/

These are people who are independently care for many stray, abandoned and helpless animals. These are the people who, like Spay & Save, would never think of euthanizing a healthy animal.
Instead - often at great personal sacrifice - they jointly make it possible for thousands of dogs and cats to live long, healthy and happy lives. Spay & Save is proud to be associated with the animal lovers and rescuers who call us for assistance. See loving adoptables at http://spayandsave.org/view/available_dogs

More than 50 people have already signed up, and the hope is for enough interest to create quite an event, and a moment or two of reverent silence as all those balloons are released.

Steel City Greyhounds Meet-n-Greet
Fox Chapel Petco
976 Freeport Road Room A2
Pittsburgh, PA 15238
Steel City Greyhounds Inc., a 501 (c) (3) Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation has been established to promote adoption of retired racing greyhounds in the metropolitan Pittsburgh and surrounding western Pennsylvania regions. Coordinator: Cindy Callaghan. Come meet the loving greys! http://www.steelcitygreyhounds.org/
Greyhounds placed are usually between 2 and 5 1/2 years old. These retired racers are very intelligent and adaptable dogs, who fit easily into their new home environment following a brief adjustment period. They are eager to please and respond positively to any attention given them.
The majority of the greyhounds are quiet, clean, gentle, good-natured dogs who adapt and get along well with other animals and people. They seem grateful for their new homes and reward their new owners with never-ending affection. They do not require a great deal of space to run, as many people think, but they do need exercise.. Coordinator: Cindy Callaghan
