Mission of the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society is to provide the most comprehensive, compassionate and humane services to enhance the lives of companion animals for families and the community; to educate and to prevent the cruelty of all animals in the region we serve.  Open door shelters will never turn away an animal in need.

There are thousands of animals who are given up every year. Sometimes people lose their jobs and can no longer afford to take care of their pets or have to move and cannot take their pets with them. Other times people experience life-changing events, such as a divorce or new baby, and have to surrender their furry friends. As more and more shelters become "limited access," people have no other choice than to surrender their pets to an open-door shelter, that will never turn away a pet in need.

Because of the stigma that open-door shelters have, many people choose to make donations to limited access shelters, when, in-fact, it's the open-door shelters who need the money the most. The Western PA Humane Society helps over 10,000 animals each and every year - which is a lot of mouths to feed and medications to administer.

Adoptable Cats Meet & Greet with

270 E Lancaster Avenue
Wynnewood, PA  19096

Come meet our beautiful and amazing felines. PurrFect Paws Rescue is a registered, non-profit corporation in the State of Pennsylvania and operates as a 501(c) 3 federally tax-exempt Public Charity. Our small group of experienced animal rescue workers recognized the need to address the friendly stray (non-feral) population living on the streets. We intake these unfortunate animals, provide them with complete veterinary care and place them in our foster care program.

In an effort to assist our local communities in reducing the population of feral cats, we are now actively engaged in TNR. This allows us to humanely trap, safely sterilize feral (untamed) cats and return them to their native area where they are fed and monitored. Our thanks to the Spayed Club for their invaluable service in working with us on this vital project. Please contact us if you have questions regarding our TNR program. Please check out their TNR program.

Humane PA

Harrisburgh/Across the state of Pennsylvania

Humane PA’s mission is to increase the engagement of the Pennsylvania animal community in public policy and to elect officials who believe that all living creatures should be treated compassionately and that deliberate acts of cruelty to animals are not acceptable in a civilized society.

Humane PA is led by a dedicated, volunteer team of animal advocates who are deeply, involved in Pennsylvania politics, who believe that to be an effective force for preventing cruelty to animals, we need to impact public policy,  work consistently and pragmatically with legislators and be organized at the ballot box. It’s time for the animal protection movement in Pennsylvania  to get political!
